Bim Afolami, Lewisham Deptford Conservatives spokesman, has welcomed figures showing that the Conservatives are delivering new affordable homes and helping hardworking people to get on the housing ladder in Lewisham.
The number of people claiming job seekers allowance has again fallen in the Lewisham Deptford Constituency as more people in the area benefit from the Conservatives Long-Term Economic Plan which has helped to create over 2 million new private sector jobs.
Tracy Sutton, Chairman of Lewisham Deptford Conservatives and Lewisham Central Council Candidate, has welcomed new statistics that show the number of people in work in London has increased by 323,000 since the last election – meaning more families in Deptford have the security of a pay packet at the end of the month.
Last Sunday (6th April) 408 people in Lewisham Deptford were lifted out of income tax. The change is thanks to Conservative Chancellor George Osborne raising the personal tax allowance (the threshold before tax is deducted) to £10,000.
More evidence emerges that the Conservatives long term economic plan is working locally as once again the unemployment claimant count in Deptford has continued to fall with more people finding work. In Deptford the number of people claiming job seekers allowance has fallen by 24.5%.
