“No Child Left Behind” Conservatives Seek Clarity on Lockdown Education Monitoring

Lewisham Conservatives have written to Lewisham Council’s cabinet member for Schools, Cllr Chris Barnham, seeking clarification for parents after it emerged that schools across the Borough will open a different rate, and after other areas of London. The Conservatives are seeking clarification on what is being done to ensure our pupils don’t falls behind.

Charlie Davis welcomes extra £8,362,545 for local council services across Lewisham

· The Government is providing an additional £1.6 billion to local authorities so they have the resources they need to respond to the coronavirus pandemic.

· This is in addition to the £1.6 billion already announced in March.

· Lewisham Council allocated total of £17,960,679 to continue providing essential services and support to those who need it the most.

London Assembly candidate Charlie Davis has welcomed news that Lewisham Council will receive a share of an extra £1.6 billion in funding to make sure councils can continue to support their communities and deliver vital services through this challenging time.

1,052 small businesses in Lewisham receive Government coronavirus support

· The Government has distributed more than £12 billion to local authorities for the small business grants scheme.

· More than £6 billion has already been paid out to half a million business properties.

· Lewisham allocated £47,004,000to support up to 3,643 business properties.

1,052 business properties in Lewisham have already received grants as part of the Government’s Small Business Grants Scheme. In total, more than £13,970,000 has made its way to small businesses in the area.
