Dear Resident,

My name is Hugh Rees-Beaumont and I'm standing to be your next Blackheath councillor. I moved to Lewisham after finishing my Master's Degree in Theoretical Physics and I now work in financial services in the City.

I'm standing to be the representative of Blackheath on Lewisham Council because I am utterly frustrated with politics and the fact that Lewisham Council have got our priorities wrong.

I will be your local champion for Blackheath.

My priorities for Blackheath are:

  • Standing up for and speaking up as an independent voice for Blackheath in Lewisham.
  • Giving local residents the final say on new developments and changes to the area.
  • Weekly meetings with residents to hear and directly address your local concerns.
  • Increase housing in Lewisham to allow it to become a borough of homeowners with beautiful public spaces for all to enjoy.
  • Working to ensure that the Bakerloo Line is brought to Lewisham.

All three Blackheath councillors have been from the Labour Party. Lewisham Council is 100% run by the Labour Party, this is not good for accountability, democracy or decision making.

It should be possible for people of all ages to work and raise a family here in Blackheath. I also want the council to provide the opportunities and support for local businesses to create the foundation of prosperity here and throughout Lewisham. This is my mission and if you support this vision, please lend me your vote on 4th July.

Yours sincerely,

Hugh
