A big thank you to everyone who came from across GrovePark and Lewisham to our Town Hall meeting for change in the borough.
It was a fantastic evening, with open and positive discussion about the future of Lewisham with residents and Mayoral Candidate Sylbourne Sydial Sylbourne Sydial, and council candidates Sergiy Lesyk Oliver Cliff.
The questions and concerns were thoughtful and deeply felt, and the energy in the room showed just how much people care about our community.
It was not just a chance to share the vision — it was an important opportunity to listen to residents’ concerns, ideas and lived experiences.
We set out a clear plan for a better Lewisham:
✅ Make Lewisham safer: with more visible policing, faster responses to crime hotspots, and real prevention linked to jobs and skills.
✅ Clean up the borough and stop fly-tipping: introducing trackable street cleaning and enforcement that actually works.
✅ Respect taxpayers: running a council that lives within its means, cuts waste, and is transparent about every pound spent.
✅ Fix housing management: raising standards in council and housing-association homes, tackling damp, mould, pollution and disrepair, and taking firm action against rogue landlords.
✅ Back high streets and small businesses: making it easier to trade, invest and thrive in our communities.
✅ Move around fairly: ensuring transport and traffic decisions are based on evidence, not ideology, while protecting access for disabled residents, carers, tradespeople and small firms.
✅ Youth Empowerment Hub: Empower the youth, and you don’t have to police the future
The meeting reinforced a simple message: after 50-years of a Labour dominated council, residents want CHANGE.
