Lewisham Conservative mayoral candidate Sylbourne Sydial represented the party at a local hustings held at Hill Station Cafe on Wednesday March 11, where residents turned out in good numbers for a warm and welcoming evening — that also brought some tough questions.
The event gave local people the chance to put their concerns directly to candidates and hear competing visions for Lewisham.
But, one absence was especially noticeable: Labour did not attend, leaving an empty chair where its representative should have been.
Speaking on behalf of Lewisham Conservatives, Sylbourne made the case for change in the borough, focusing on our message of safer streets, cleaner streets, stronger support for the local community and Youth Empowerment Hubs ( Y.E.H.).
"Putting people first, restoring trust, and delivering results for the people of Lewisham — to be your voice. That's what I'm about," stated Sylbourne Sydial, Lewisham Conservative mayoral candidate. "And I won't give up because I believe Lewisham needs a new turn."
Conservatives said the discussion showed the strength of local feeling on issues that matter to residents day to day, from crime and street cleanliness to how well the council listens to local people.
A big thank you to Hill Station Cafe for hosting the event and helping bring the community together for the discussion.
